"One woman wanted to rent my office to work," remembers Lisa Slocum, the airport Fifth Third Bank branch manager. Capital One closed its branch at Washington, D.C.'s Dulles International Airport in 2020, instead creating "airport lounges" for cardholders in Dulles, along with similar spots at airports in Denver and Dallas. Yet full-service airport bank branches are a relative rarity, surprising in a retail landscape that often resembles an upscale mall more than a terminal. Fifth Third BankWells Fargo operates a full-service branch in Las Vegas's Harry Reid International Airport, and according to a bank spokeswomen, has a multi-year relationship with the airport that involves both the branch and multiple ATMs throughout terminals. McAdam says ATMs and advanced-function kiosks are one thing, but a full-service branch, except maybe in the largest markets, is overkill.

An emergency exit slide came off a Delta Air Lines Boeing 767 on Friday. A lawyer, whose firm is suing Boeing over the Alaska blowout, spotted it outside his home two days later. AdvertisementAn emergency slide that came off a Delta Boeing 767 was found by a lawyer whose firm is suing Boeing, the New York Post reported. The wild coincidence happened on Sunday, two days after the slide fell off the Boeing 767 operated by Delta Air Lines. However, it should be noted that since the Delta Boeing 767 was built in 1990, the incident points to a maintenance issue rather than the planemaker's fault.

I visited a Delta Sky Club lounge at JFK Airport in NYC to see what it was like. As a Delta SkyMiles member in the Silver Medallion tier, I had access to a Sky Club lounge, an area with luxe-feeling seating, a buffet, and free WiFi. The head of the FAA told Congress how its panel is examining sleep science to help. Despite the best efforts of pilots and air traffic controllers, sometimes collisions do happen. It said the captain was distracted and confused by instructions from air traffic controllers, while the co-pilot lost track of the plane's location. Air traffic control fatigueOne major cause of near-misses is the strained workload of air traffic controllers. "Air traffic controllers are being required to do mandatory overtime," she said.

By Steven ScheerJERUSALEM (Reuters) - Air travel to and from Israel plunged in the last three months of 2023 amid the Israel-Hamas conflict, but the number of passengers travelling through Ben Gurion International Airport near Tel Aviv still rose 10% in 2023. REUTERS/Elijah Nouvelage Acquire Licensing RightsWASHINGTON, Nov 13 (Reuters) - Major U.S. airlines and the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) said Monday they expect record air travel over the Thanksgiving holiday air travel period. Airlines for America says Nov. 26 will be a record-setting air travel day with 3.2 million passengers. The record travel comes despite airline flight cuts to New York airports because of air traffic controller staffing. A government watchdog said in June critical ATC facilities face significant staffing challenges, posing risks to air traffic operations. In the summer of 2022, there were 41,498 flights from New York airports in which ATC staffing was a contributing factor in delays.

WASHINGTON, July 6 (Reuters) - A U.S. government watchdog will review Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) efforts to prevent airport runway incursions after a series of incidents where airplanes came dangerously close to each other. The U.S. Transportation Department Office of Inspector General (OIG) said it was opening its audit to assess FAA processes for analyzing data, identifying risks and preventing and mitigating runway incursions. The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) is investigating six runway incursion events since January including some near catastrophes. In March, the FAA said it was taking steps to improve air traffic control, convening a safety summit and issuing a safety alert. In April, it named an independent safety review team and in June announced $100 million for 12 airports to make improvements to taxiways and lighting to reduce runway incursions.
